The T20 World Cup 2022 is onto the next stage now. The top four teams from the Round 1 of the tournament have qualified for the Super 12 stage and will face the top 8 teams for the champion's glory. Amidst this, one team which were sure to qualify was West Indies. But it didn’t happen this way.

The two-time world champions suffered a loss at the hands of Ireland on the final day of the qualifiers. The Nicholas Pooran-led side lost by nine wickets despite putting an average score of 146 after batting first. After two losses in the Qualifying round, they failed to qualify to the Super 12s.

Although, there were chances of them comeback into the game, Ireland charged themselves well to take the game in what may be called a one-sided game. Once again, the captaincy of Nicholas Pooran was under the scanner, and he later also apologised to the West Indies’ fans for not being able to deliver.

Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt has now opened up on the team’s poor performance Down Under. Ricky Skerritt has issued a statement while addressing the poor shot selection of the side in the team’s loss.

“I want to assure stakeholders that a thorough postmortem will be carried out on all aspects of our World Cup preparation and performance, and solutions will be found in keeping with CWI’s strategy to improve”, a part of his statement read.
