India and Australia squared off against each other in the warmup game at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Monday as the Men in Blue defeated Australia by six runs. In the post-match presentation, 2007 World Cup-winner Gautam Gambhir has picked Bhuvneshwar Kumar over Mohammed Shami for Team India's ICC T20 World Cup 2022 opener against Pakistan.

Team India batted first against Australia and placed a target of 187 runs with a loss of seven wickets as KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav smashed quick half-centuries while Kane Richardson picked four wickets in the first innings.

In a post-match presentation, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has commented on India's playing XI against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Gambhir has named Bhuvneshwar Kumar over Mohammed Shami as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement.

Gautam Gambhir, 41, said, "Bhuvneshwar Kumar will make place for Mohammed Shami against Pakistan."

During Australia's batting, Mohammed Shami bowled just one over which happened to be the final over of the match. Interestingly, Shami dismissed three Australian batters in his over as India picked four wickets in the final over. The second wicket in the final over was a runout as Ashton Agar failed to sneak a bye. Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik collected the ball and threw it towards Shami, who hit the stumps at the bowler's end to dismiss Agar.

In the second innings, Australia batters felt seven runs short to chase the target despite 54-ball-76-run heroics by skipper Aaron Finch as the Men in Blue displayed impressive team efforts to bring down the Aussie batters. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked two wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh each picked one wicket in their three overs.
