World number one ranked team in the shortest format and with record number of wins in a calendar year with two months to go, Tea m India will be favorites in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Rohit Sharma-led side has moved on from their horrific outing in the Asia Cup 2022 in UAE, and have already eased past defending champions Australia, and South Africa in a bilateral contest ahead of the ICC tournament.

Team India is regarded as one of the fierce sides which can post tough challenge to any team in the world in any given condition. However, inability to win the ICC tournament has grappled Men in Blue on most of the occasion in recent past. India have been able to qualify for any white-ball ICC tournament final since the 2014 T20 World Cup, they could not even make it to the semi-finals in the last edition in UAE.

While Team India will be desperately looking towards T20 World Cup 2022 to redeem their recent past performance in the ICC tournament, former England skipper Naseer Hussain highlighted the same point claiming India have been 'timid' in ICC tournaments.  "India's issues have been ICC events really. They have been going around beating everyone, with a variety of players, they have rotated and rested. But the fact of the matter is that they have played some timid cricket in world events like almost gone into their shell."

"They definitely played some fearful cricket in the last World Cup, especially in the powerplays," Hussain said in a chat with Sky Sports. The retired English cricketer further suggested that Team India needs to keep the similar approach with which they played in the bilateral contests.

"India have got to keep the hitting potential. Suryakumar Yadav has been in unbelievable form. They are missing two great cricketers in Jadeja and Bumrah. They have got to keep the same mindset they have had in the bilateral events," the former captain further added.

Speaking of T20 World Cup 2022, India have been placed in the Group 2 alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa. Two more teams will join them from the qualifiers. Rohit Sharma will start their T20 World Cup campaign on October 23 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.
