New Zealand kick-started the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup with a dominant batting display. The Black Caps posted a humungous total of 200 thanks to quality knocks by Devon Conway, Finn Allen and Jimmy Neesham. These big-hitting batters certainly frustrated the hosts as they failed to contain the Kiwis despite having a potent bowling attack.

These frustrations soon reached new heights as Neesham smashed an incredible maximum on the last ball of the innings. Glenn Maxwell, the fielder in the deep flew high to catch the ball but failed and hence took out his anger on the boundary cushion.

This New Zealand domination continued in the second half of the game as they bundled out the Aussies for 111 in 17.1 overs and handed the hosts their biggest T20 defeat. The stars with the ball were Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner as the duo picked up three wickets each.

But the most surprising stat from Southee's spell was his economy as the 33-year-old gave away six runs in his 2.1 overs and picked up his triple. After the match, NZ captain Kane Williamson praised his team for their responding performance at the MCG.

He said, "It was one of those days, an outstanding day, the openers set the tone, lots of contributions right through the batting and that was a very good score on this pitch. The bowlers then did well and were well supported in the field. Everyone know their roles in this team, we knew about the quality of their bowling (Australia's), took the game deep and we were very clinical in what we needed to do."
