After registering three victories and three draws in their last six league games, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Olympique Marseille 1-0 on Sunday night at the Parc des Princes. However, L ionel Messi remained unfortunate as he blasted the crossbar with his first half freekick in Sunday's game.
PSG star Neymar Jr scored the first and the only goal of the match in the stoppage time of the first half to help the French capital-side extend their lead on the top of the Ligue 1 table.
In the 35th minute, PSG were rewarded a freekick as legendary forward Lionel Messi stepped up to take the spot kick. Unfortunately, Messi hit the crossbar in his attempt to give the lead to the home side, leaving the spectators in frustration. The freekick against Marseille could be his second goal from the spot this season after scoring a freekick against Nice earlier this month.

Apart from the fans, Messi's family including his wife Antonela and son Thiago also attended PSG's game against Marseille on Sunday at the Parc des Princes. His wife and son were also extremely shocked in disappointment as Messi hit the crossbar with his impressive freekick.
Talking about the match, Neymar Jr scored the only goal of the match at two minutes into the stoppage time of the first half and registered his ninth goal in the Ligue 1 this season. Kylian Mbappe crossed the ball into the box which found Neymar, who scored casually past the goalkeeper Lopez.
Marseille centre-back Samuel Gigot was handed a red card following his horrific tackle on PSG star Neymar Jr. in the 72nd minute.
Before the match, Christophe Galtier's major concern was the defense of his team as legendary centre-back Sergio Ramos was unavailable due to his red card in the last game while Presnel Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes were sidelined due to injury. However, their star forwards Messi, Neymar and Mbappe started the game against Marseille and displayed a tremendous performance.
