A key member of India's T20 World Cup contingent Suryakumar Yadav has shared how he felt during his first practice session in Australia ahead of the marquee event. Given the kind of form that he has shown, it would not be wrong to say that a lot of India's chances in the tournament will depend on the world number 2 batter's performance.

With India having reached Australia early, the players and the team have also started to get used to the pitches and conditions in that part of the world. And now after his first net session there, the BCCI has shared a video in which Suryakumar shares his feelings post the practice.

“I was really looking forward to coming here and attending the first practice session. Go around the ground, have a walk, and feels what it’s like. The first net session was really amazing, I just wanted to see the pace of the wicket and bounce,” he says in the video.

“Thoda butterflies tha, excitement bhi bahut tha (There is excitement as well as butterflies in my stomach). But at the same time, it is important to adapt quickly and follow your own process and routine follow, which is most important,” he added.

Before the Men in Blue kick off their campaign against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, they have at least 4 practice matches waiting for them. While ICC had scheduled warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and 19 respectively, the BCCI has requested two more matches against Western Australia which are scheduled on October 10 and 12.

The Indian players would want to make the best use of all these matches. Moreover, the captain and the management would also be looking at what could be the ideal combination to play in the tournament, especially with Jasprit Bumrah ruled out and his replacement yet to be announced.
