West Indies all-rounder Rakheem Cornwall put up a historic double century in the USA-based T20 league Atlanta Open. While playing for the Atlanta Fire the Antigua-born scored 205 runs in just 77 balls, which included 17 fours and 22 sixes leading his team to colossal victory.

While batting at the strike rate of 266.77, Cornwall helped the Fire to a total of 326-1 in 20 overs. Later in the second innings, the Atlanta-based team bundled out their opponent for 154 and registered a humongous 172-run win.

The Atlanta Open is a tournament with 16 teams divided into four groups. The winner of the competition will be given $75,000 in prize money. The heavy-hitting all-rounder has been a mainstay in the domestic West Indies T20 setup, showcasing his brute ability with the bat in the past as well. But he hasn’t broken in the West Indies white-ball formats and last represented the national side in a Test match against Sri Lanka last year.

Despite Rakheem Cornwall's magnanimous feat, his unbeaten innings of 208 will not be included in the record books as the Atlanta Open is not a recognized tournament. The record for the highest T20 score still remains with Chris Gayle’s 175 runs for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League against the Pune Warriors India.
