The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is growing intense with just 21 matches remaining before the playoffs. Sam Curran-led Punjab Kings overcame their four-game losing streak to register back-to-back wins as they defeated Ruturaj Gaikwad's Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk.

In the IPL 2024 standings, PBKS are placed seventh with four wins in 10 matches while CSK maintained the fourth spot with five wins and losses each. Apart from them, RR lead the standings with just one loss in nine games followed by KKR and LSG with 12 points each while MI and RCB are at the bottom with three wins in 10 matches.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings are coming off an incredible win against Kolkata Knight Riders, chasing down the highest total in the history of the tournament.

PBKS cruise to comfortable 7-wicket win over CSK at Chepauk

Punjab Kings continued their winning run in IPL 2024 after beating the Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets. After winning the toss, Punjab opted to bowl first and put forth a brilliant effort as they restricted CSK to 162 with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 62-off-48. PBKS spinners were crucial as they combined to pick up four out of the seven wickets. Then with the bat, Punjab cruised to a comfortable win in the 18th over with the help of spectacular knocks by Jonny Bairstow (46-off-30) and Rilee Rossouw (43-off-23). With this win, PBKS registered their fourth consecutive win against CSK in the IPL.

CSK's Deepak Chahar walks off field after delivering two balls vs PBKS

Deepak Chahar walked off the field after delivering just two balls of his over during the clash against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. Chahar opened CSK’s bowling attack but with two balls through his over, the 31-year-old walked off the field. Chahar seemed uncomfortable and after having a word with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, he decided to leave the field. Following his departure, Shardul Thakur completed his over. 

Yuzvendra Chahal makes hilarious request against Harshal Patel in IPL

Yuzvendra Chahal made a hilarious request to X CEO Elon Musk after Punjab Kings’ pacer Harshal Patel copied his signature pose. During PBKS's clash against CSK, Patel took a sliding catch to dismiss Samir Rizvi and ended up in Chahal's signature pose. The RR spinner took to X and hilariously asked CEO Elon Musk to issue a copyright claim against Patel. 

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad gives injury update on Pathirana and Deshpande

Ahead of the IPL 2024 clash against the Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings were left without two key bowlers - Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande. At the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's misfortune continued as he once again called it wrong and Sam Curran won the toss. Speaking at the toss, Gaikwad said, "Pathirana has a slight niggle, Deshpande isn't well, so we've Shardul and Richard Gleeson makes his debut."

Hardik Pandya fined for maintaining slow over-rate in game vs LSG

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been handed a fine worth INR 24 Lakh after his team was found maintaining a slow over-rate during IPL 2024 Match 48 against Lucknow Super Giants. Apart from Pandya, the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player were handed a fine, where each individual will be fined either INR 6 Lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees.

Hardik & Tilak involved in heated argument after DC clash,  Rohit Sharma intervenes

After MI’s 10-run defeat against DC in IPL 2024,  Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma  were involved in a heated argument. This comes after Hardik publicly criticised Tilak for his “lack of match awareness”. “Hardik and Tilak fought after the (DC) game and was questioned about his attitude,” sources close to SportsTiger confirmed.  Moreover, it has also been revealed that this fight led to the team bringing in former skipper Rohit Sharma into the picture.
