With just 14 days to go for IPL 2022, the excitement among the fans is unprecedented and is increasing with every passing second. Even the announcement of the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain has taken place and it is none other than Faf du Plessis. With the start of the T20 tournament just a couple of weeks away, here in this article, we have a look at some of the interesting IPL facts related to the number 14.
14 – Chetan Sakariya took 14 wickets in IPL 2021
Sakariya had an impressive outing with RR in the previous IPL season but he still wasn’t bought back by the Rajasthan franchise and in the 2022 mega auction he was sold for a big price of 4.2 Crores to Delhi Capitals. He is expected to be a key player for Delhi in IPL 2022.
14 – Venkatesh Iyer smashed 14 sixes in the IPL 2021
Venkatesh Iyer’s impressive performance helped KKR reach the finals of IPL 2021. Before Iyer got an opportunity, KKR were reeling at 7th position in the points table. However, the left-handed batter part-time medium pacer’s terrific performances not only helped him take KKR to the final four but also make his debut for India. Iyer has been retained by the Kolkata franchise for a big price of 8 Crores.
14 – Sanju Samson has captained Rajasthan in IPL games
Sanju Samson-led RR ended up being a disappointment in the previous season as they failed to provide good results which meant they stood 7th on the points table. The Rajasthan side is expected to change their strategy in this season and make a good comeback under Samson which could be a good tribute for former skipper Shane Warne who had led the team to their only title in 2008. Warne tragically passed away earlier this month.
14 – Aaron Finch has smashed 14 fifty-plus scores in IPL history
Aaron Finch has been brought into the KKR side as a replacement for Alex Hales for the upcoming IPL season. Finch has already played for 8 franchises in the past- RR, DC, PWI, SRH, MI, GL, PBKS and RCB. KKR will be Finch’s 9th IPL franchise.
