The 12th season of Big Bash League and the inaugural season of the United Arab Emirates's franchise league, ILT20 are set to clash next year in January and February. The problems have increased for the BBL 2022-23 as 15 Australian players are reportedly offered a massive amount of AUD 700,000 to play in ILT20.

The dates of both the leagues are overlapping as the BBL 2022-23 is set to begin from December 13 to February 4 while the ILT20 2023 will be played between January 6 to February 12, 2023.

The selected Aussie cricketers have been asked to abandon the Big Bash League 2022-23 and rather play in the UAE T20 league next season, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald. The report said, "As many as 15 Australian players have been offered contracts worth up to AUD 700,000 a year to abandon the Big Bash League and play in the UAE Twenty20 tournament in January."

The UAE Twenty20 league is considered the second-most lucrative league after the Indian Premier League and by offering AUD 700,000 to the Australian players, the Cricket Australia is under significant stress.
