Preview

After some nail-biting action in Tests and  T20Is, India and England now shift their attention towards the upcoming three-match ODI series which is slated to start on March 23. It is worth noting that all the matches will be a day-night affair and the venue for them will be Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. While India had already announced their team, the Three Lions have announced their squad on Sunday.

Before we start discussing anymore, let's have a look at the performances of the two teams in their previous ODI series. England had last played a one-day match 7 months back and had lost it by 3 wickets to their opponents Australia. Eoin Morgan's men had lost the ODI series 2-1 to the side. Meanwhile, India, last played an ODI four months back against the same opponents, that is Australia. Virat Kohli's men had also lost the three-match series 2-1.

However, England would be more hungry for a win when the two sides meet on Tuesday as India have already clinched the Test series 3-1 and the T20I series 3-2.

Team News

India

The selectors have given another opportunity to Suryakumar Yadav after his sensational debut in the T20Is. Meanwhile, right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna has also been included in the 18-man squad, though a chance for him in the Playing XI is highly unlikely. With plenty of playing options available, the Indian team management will have some real headache for picking the final XI. Among other positives, Hardik Pandya is back in the bowling groove and it will be really interesting to see if he is fit enough to bowl his complete quota of overs.

England

After two back-to-back series defeats to India, England must be low on confidence and to make things worse, there will be no Joe Root and Jofra Archer for them in the squad. Notably, Archer has aggravated his elbow injury in the course of T20I series against India and hence he will stay out of the upcoming series. This might give Reece Topley a chance to feature in the games.
