After drubbing Sri Lanka 2-1 in the recently concluded T20I series, West Indies now take on the island nation in the ODI format. While the skipper of West Indies remains the same, Sri Lanka will be led by Dimuth Karunaratne in the 50-over format. Sri Lanka were led by stand-in skipper Angelo Matthews in the T20I series.
West Indies were a tough juggernaut in the T20 series and they won the series 2-1 against Sri Lanka. The first match saw some amazing fireworks as Kieron Pollard struck 6 gigantic sixes in an over by Akila Dananjaya. Incidentally Dananjaya had taken a hattrick in that very match a over prior. Veterans Chris Gayle and Fidel Edwards were not as effective as they used to be during their heydays and they aren’t a part of the ODI squad.
Sri Lanka on the other hand, need an effective plan to tackle the vicious batting-lineup of West Indies. If they can find some loopholes, then Sri Lanka will have found their winning ingredients. Their biggest positive will be the return of skipper Dimuth Karunaratne. Dasun Shanaka will also be a part of the ODI squad and is expected to be in the starting 11.
