With the ICC international calendar in focus, we have the T20 World Cup this year in Australia. With the T20 World Cup in the spotlight, we have seen many names being taken for the final squad. Many players are being considered and have been given an opportunity to prove themselves ahead of this marquee event.

With India set to play 12–13 more T20Is ahead of the World Cup, don’t be surprised if more names pop up for that final list of 15. With this being all said, let’s have a look at some players who might have their final showdown in this World Cup for their country (India).

1. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik made his debut in 2004-05 and continued to keep himself in contention for every major ICC event. In recent years, especially in T20s, he has developed himself to be a perfect lower-order batsman who finishes games on his own for his team. In the recently concluded IPL, Karthik played that finisher role for his franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and either rescued them from tricky situations or finished it big in the final overs. Dinesh Karthik’s fabulous finishing skills were seen on the international stage on many occasions, with the Nidahas Trophy final against Bangladesh being the most memorable one.

With the Indian team looking for a finisher, Karthik definitely suits that role and most probably will be on that flight to Australia. With age not being on his side and many young players rising through the ranks, this might be his last opportunity to play for his country on the grand stage of an ICC event.
