Preview:

It’s time for the final showdown in the 3-match ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan. After the visitors got ahead in the series with a thrilling win in the opening contest, the hosts bounced back in style despite of Fakhar Zaman’s heroics. With the series levelled at 1-1, the fans can expect another blockbuster clash between these two extremely competitive sides.

Talking about the favorites going into the series decider, the hosts will be more confident coming on the back of such an emphatic win on Sunday. However, they will be without many of their star players who have left the squad to take part in IPL. On the other hand, Pakistan will have all their key players available for this contest. With the series in line, it is going to be an exciting battle between a young Proteas side led by Temba Bavuma against a full-strength Pakistan team captained by Babar Azam.

Team News

South Africa:

The hosts will be without five key starters in the form of Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi who have left for India. While it will be very difficult for the Proteas to find like-to-like replacements, they will be hopeful that the players who get an opportunity step up on Wednesday. South Africa are expected to play Janneman Malan, Beuran Hendricks, Junior Dala, Lutho Sipamla and Kyle Verreynne.

Pakistan:

The visitors will be without their star all-rounder Shadab Khan as he has been ruled out of the series due to a toe injury he suffered while batting in the second ODI. While there are a few options for Pakistan, they might opt for left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz to give them some variety in the bowling line-up. It will also be interesting to see if the experienced Sarfaraz Ahmed gets an opportunity in the series decider.

Analysis

With some new players in the side, all the South African players will have to step up for the series decider. Janneman Malan, who is expected to come in at top of the order, could be the X-Factor player in your fantasy team. The right-handed batsman showed glimpses of class when the two sides met in Pakistan as he scored 75 runs in 3 T20I games. While Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen should be definite picks in the batting department, Andile Phehlukwayo is going to be the player to watch out for with the ball in hand.

Fakhar Zaman is coming to this contest on the back of a fantastic 193-run knock. The left-handed batsman looked at his supreme best and will be hoping to continue his form in the last ODI. While Babar Azam has also looked in good touch, Mohammad Rizwan is the man for big occasions and is expected to play a crucial knock with the series on line. In the bowling department, all eyes will be on the duo of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.
