After a long wait, Ranveer Singh starrer movie titled '83’, based on India’s 1983 World Cup win and its hero legendary all-rounder captain Kapil Dev, is ready to rock the theaters on Christmas this year. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh made the announcement regarding the same on Twitter on Sunday. The release date was deferred earlier due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.

Earlier, the movie was all set to be released on June 4, 2021, but the second wave of COVID-19 forced the directors to postpone the release. However, with the second wave dying and vaccination drive on its peak, governments have allowed the opening of theatres. The latest state to allow the functioning of cinema halls is Maharashtra and we all know how big a market it is for Bollywood. Thus, director Kabir Khan and other crew members have decided to release the movie on Christmas. Ranveer Singh, who has played the lead role in the movie stepping in the shoes of Kapil Dev, made the announcement.

Movie to be released in five Indian languages

Cricket is a religion in India and cricketers are nothing less than celebrities here. Then how can the nation forget someone like Kapil Dev, who brought glory to India at the biggest stage, leading the national cricket team to victory against the mighty West Indies in the World Cup final of 1983. Thus, to avoid any sort of barrier, especially linguistic, in the love of fans, movie '83' is set to release in five different Indian languages. People can watch the film in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Talking about the actors who will be seen playing other roles, include actress Deepika Padukone who will be seen playing Kapil Dev’s wife. The rest of the cast is also fabulous with renowned actor Pankaj Tripathi roped in for the role of the team manager.
