In a big development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reportedly nominated former India spinner Harbhajan Singh as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Punjab. Notably, Monday (March 21) is the last day for filing the nominations. Meanwhile, the party has also nominated Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Raghav Chadha and IIT professor Dr Sandeep Pathak for the Upper House of Parliament.

AAP won the recent Punjab elections, with Bhagwant Mann taking the oath as the Chief Minister of the state. Aam Aadmi Party had won 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly, defeating the Congress, the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, and the BJP-Punjab Lok Congress-SAD (Sanyukt) alliance.

Harbhajan Singh is also set to be given big role in Punjab towards development and nurturing of sports talent in the state. Harbhajan, who has taken over 700 wickets in an international career spanning over 18 years, recently retired from active sport.
