The ongoing 2nd Test against India brought the best out of Sri Lankan spinners at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. Till tea on Day 1, India lost four of its batters and three of which were hunted by spinners. As India's top order failed to make the mark, middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer along with Ravichandran Ashwin are trying to take India past 200.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma opted to bat first, seeking to provide a solid foundation to his side while opening at the top of the order alongside Mayank Agarwal. But Lankan bowlers left him questioning his own decision, as both the openers were departed within ten overs of the 1st innings. While Agarwal was unfortunate to get run amidst LBW appeal, Rohit Sharma was hunted down by de Silva at slip.
However, Rohit's departure brought Virat Kohli in ground and seeing the former skipper comes out to bat, crowds obviously went crazy, and Kohli was welcomed by all with a huge round of applause. But, Kohli disappointed his fans once again as he could not capitalize on a better start and was departed after playing 48 balls.
While batting with Rishabh Pant, Kohli was trying to steady the innings, but he was trapped leg before wicket by right-arm orthodox de Silva in 28th over of the match. As expected, Kohli's departure invoked social media users to express their disappointment and gave birth to several memes.
