The AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 will kick off on 20th January in India. Eyeing their maiden title win, the host will begin their campaign on the first day of the tournament against debutants Iran at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. India last hosted the tournament in 1979 and reached the finals but Chinese Taipei defeated the hosts to lift the title.
India have never won the title and China, with eight trophies, have been the most dominant side in its history. The AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 will be held in three venues across Maharashtra from January 20 to February 6. The four semi-finalists earn a direct slot to the next women's World Cup, all the losing quarterfinalists will make it to the continental play-offs for the last possible slot from Asia.
