The Indian Premier League (IPL) is still a couple of weeks away but the IPL franchises are already beginning to feel the heat. While last year's finalist, Delhi Capitals, have confirmed that their captain Shreyas Iyer will not be able to take part in the T20 tournament after sustaining a shoulder injury, another captain is now doubtful at least for the initial phase of cricket's biggest spectacle. It happens to be none other than the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan.

Morgan ruled out of remainder of ODI series

The southpaw has already been ruled out of the remaining matches of the ODI series after picking up a hand injury. This suggests that he would not be able to regain fitness at least till 28th March which is when the final game of the series is slated to be played. However, if the injury is diagnosed to be a bit more serious, Morgan might even miss a few games of upcoming edition of IPL which is set to commence on April 9.

Pant likely to lead DC in absence of Iyer, confirmation awaited

Meanwhile, reports are suggesting that Rishabh Pant is likely to lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. Although DC have other options in Steve Smith, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Aswhin, the franchise is backing 23-year-old Pant with the job. Pant has previously led Delhi in Ranji Trophy but is yet to captain an IPL franchise.
