Preview:

San Antonio Spurs, ranked number 10, will be up against Memphis Grizzlies, who find themselves ranked 9, in a do or die fixture at the FedExForum on Wednesday (Thursday, IST). The winner of the match will take on the loser of the number 8 vs number 7 encounter between the Golden State Warriors and the LA Lakers. Spurs haven’t been in the best of form recently and ended the regular-season with a four match losing streak, heading into this contest with just two wins from their last 12 matches. In contrast, the Memphis Grizzlies, won five consecutive games before losing to Golden State Warriors in their last match of the regular season.

Analysis:

The Grizzlies have been one of the better teams as far as the defence is concerned. They will yet again have to bank on their defensive strategy to get them through in this game as their attack was the 13th overall- not an impressive stat for the side. Ja Morant and Jonas Valanciunas are likely to hold the key for Grizzlies is this crucial clash. As far as San Antonio Spurs are concerned, DeMar DeRozan has shone like a bright sun and one can’t blame them if they depend on him again to secure a Playoff seat. DeRozan has a career-high 6.9 assists per game this season while also putting up 21.6 points and 4.2 rebounds. The likes of Patty Mills and Rudy Gay will use their experience to absorb the pressure and deliver the goods.
