It is the D-Day. The curtain-raiser to the second half of IPL 2021 is about to commence in a few hours from now and for the next few days, cricket fans will be immersed in T20 action. However, it is also the time when some fans bring out their sense of humour to the fore and engage in a bit of banter especially when trolling one's favourite franchise or a random rival team fan on social media.

A similar situation was at the fore on social media. When a netizen tried to downplay the buzz around the El Clasico of IPL - the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians battle - which is set to be the first match of the UAE leg of IPL 2021 later today, she was in turn trolled. While she wrote that every media portal was about one name Virat Kohli who was bigger than the IPL and El Clasico itself, she was quickly reminded that the Kohli-led franchise is yet to win a single title.

Check out the exchange here:

The social media user found an innovative way to troll the RCB fan. He put out an old picture from the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati in which the contestant had ironically picked Royal Challengers Bangalore as the team with most number of IPL titles. The reality, of course, is far from being that as the Bangalore-based franchise hasn't tasted a championship win at all.

Talking about their performance in the season, RCB did look good in the first half and are sitting at third place with five wins from seven matches. However, this will be a different ball game with a few replacements and in different conditions in UAE. But given the kind of start they have got, a few wins from here could be enough to help them seal a Playoff berth.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli recently announced that he will step down as the T20I captain of the national team after the T20 World Cup in the Middle East this year. While there has not been any official confirmation yet, it is expected that the captain of the five-time IPL-winning team Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma, is likely to take his place at the helm.
