The fifth edition of the Andhra Premier League is set to kick off on June 9, and will continue till June 30. The T20 tournament organized by the Andhra Cricket Association was launched to provide a competitive platform for local talent from Andhra Pradesh and to help bridge the gap between district-level cricket and the national stage. The tournament is played in a franchise format and brings together teams from different regions of the state.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, matches will be hosted at three major stadiums across Tamil Nadu to increase rural engagement. The first city is Vizag, second being Kadapa, and the third is Mangalagiri. The tournament will be executed in a round-robin format with all seven teams playing each other twice. It would consist of 21 league matches.
Following the completion of this stage, the teams that finish 1st and second will face off in Qualifier 1. The winner would secure their Final berth, while the team that lost would get a second chance in Qualifier 2. On the other hand, the teams that finish 3rd and 4th would lock horns in the Eliminator. The winner of the game would clash against the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. In the final, the winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2.
