Ahead of England's highly-anticipated Round of 16 match against Germany in EURO 2020, cricketer Sam Curran has jokingly sent a request to the team management to include him in the squad for the mega clash. The whole sequence of events started when Curran surprised everyone with his fantastic football skills against Sri Lanka during the 2nd T20I on Thursday.

It's coming home: England Cricket

During the second over of Sri Lanka's innings, Avishka Fernando missed his flick shot as the ball bounced off his pads and Danushka Gunathilaka ran for a quick single. Sam Curran reacted very quickly as he sprinted towards the ball and surprisingly hit the ball directly towards the stumps with his feet. Gunathilaka's valiant dive was not enough to save his wicket as Curran's brilliant football skills sent the Sri Lankan opener back to the pavilion.

England Cricket posted the video on their twitter account as Sam Curran re-posted it with a cheeky caption, "Any space in the squad for next Tuesday?" and he also tagged national football team's captain Harry Kane ahead of the side's all-important contest against Germany.

Sam Curran or Alan Shearer?

Everything went to a whole different level when England's Barmy Army compared Sam Curran to former England footballer Alan Shearer. The 50-year-old, who had 260 Premier League goals in his career, also took the whole banter very sportingly as he replied with a laughing emoji on the hilarious comparison.
