The 15th season of the Indian Premier League is set to be bigger than ever as the tournament is scheduled to take place in April with 10 teams. Franchises have already started preparing formidable teams to represent them in the highly anticipated T20 tournament. While the newly inducted franchise Lucknow has already roped in cricket greats like Andy Flower as team coach, Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the team and KL Rahul is set to join the team as skipper, now reports have suggested that the Ahmedabad franchise is working towards the same.
Reportedly, Ahmedabad has elected former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra as head coach of the team for the 2022 season of the tournament. The franchise has also brought in World Cup-winning coach Garry Kristen in their coaching staff as the mentor of the team, while England's former batsman Vikram Solanki as the 'Director of Cricket.'
However, bound by the BCCI's terms, the franchise is yet to make an official announcement for the same but citing top IPL sources, reports are indicating that the Ahmedabad franchise has already interviewed the trio and short-listed them for the season.
Notably, Ashish Nehra and Garry Kristen share a close bond with each other as the duo has spent some quality time with each other when the latter was coaching the Indian side while the former was a player. Nehra has earlier been a coach with Royal Challengers Bangalore where Kirsten was also involved for a couple of seasons. Nehra shares a great rapport even with Solanki, who has worked previously as a coach in IPL.
