Cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar is known for his eyebrow-raising comments and remarks on the game. Time and again he has made controversial statements either via social media or while on air in the commentary box. This time around his comments are targeted at veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The former Mumbai cricketer suggested that Ashwin cannot yet be deemed an "all-time great" which irritated a section of the cricket fans.

Earlier, Manjrekar's take on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja being a "bits & pieces" cricketer had triggered a controversy as Jaddu had given a firm response to the former batsman. But Ashwin has decided to give a sporting reply also having a bit of a fun on social media. The India off-spinner reacted by quoting a dialogue from the movie "Aparachith" reading, "Apdi Solladha Da Chaari, Manasellam Valikirdhu," roughly translating to "Don't say things like that, it hurts."

" 'All- time great' is the highest praise & acknowledgment given to a cricketer. Cricketers like Don Bradman, Sobers, Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Virat etc are all time greats in my book. With due respect, Ashwin not quite there as an all-time great yet,” Manjrekar had posted on Twitter after receiving criticism over his assessment of R Ashwin.

Earlier, on a cricket show, Manjrekar outlined that Ashwin does not have a single five-wicket haul in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries. He added that since Ravindra Jadeja and lately Axar Patel have matched Ashwin's performances in India, Ash hasn't done anything extraordinary.
