BREAKING NEWS | Asia Cup 2021 called off amid COVID-19 scare

The tournament was scheduled to take place in June this year in Sri Lanka.

Not only the economy but even sports across the world has also been hugely affected with the COVID-19 outbreak. Though a few were postponed in 2020 after the virus outbreak only, the rescheduled events are also on the verge of further postponement after another wave hit some parts of the world.

Asia Cup 2021 suspended until further notice

In the latest update, the much-awaited Asia Cup 2021 has also been called off. The T20 tournament was scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in June this year. However, seeing the scenario after the COVID-19 outbreak, the tournament now remains suspended until further notice.

“Due to the prevailing situation, it will not be possible to play the tournament in June this year,” Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Ashley de Silva was quoted as saying.
