The Aston Martin Formula One team have replaced their recently retired driver Sebastian Vettel with another world champion in Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard has agreed to join the team in 2023 on a multi-year deal. Alonso returned to Formula 1 in 2021 with French team Alpine after a two-year break and has pulled off some incredible races alongside Esteban Ocon.

When Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement, Alonso was one of the favourites to replace him. Similarly, speculations about Mick Schumacher as a possible option also surfaced as he reportedly didn’t want to extend his contract with Ferrari Driving Academy at the end of the season and a possible move to a team which doesn’t have any ties with the Prancing Horse
