Australia defeated Pakistan in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2021 on Thursday. Despite several hiccups at various stages in the game the Aussies got home with 6 balls to spare, courtesy of superb attack from Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis in the death overs. While Wade stayed unbeaten during his 41 off 17, Stoinis too carried his bat with with a 40 off 31.
Wade was deservedly awarded the Man of the Match honour. His innings that was laced with 2 fours and 4 sixes helped Australia win the nail-biting contest to set up a final clash with New Zealand. David Warner’s 49 off 30 also helped the team’s cause. Meanwhile, for Pakistan, Shadab Khan was the star performer with the figures of 4/26. Shaheen Afridi got the other Australian wicket that fell in the night but conceded 35 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Hasan Ali had a forgettable night as he not only conceded 44 runs off his four overs, but also dropped the all-important catch of Matthew Wade at a crucial juncture in the game.
Soon after Wade hit the winning six, the Twitterati could not hold themselves from trolling the Men in Green. Though many also praised the team for its performance in the tournament, the number of trolls just overshadowed all that. Hasan Ali, meanwhile, became the main target for his poor performance and the dropped catch.
