Usman Khawaja has impressed the cricket fraternity with his two centuries in successive innings of the fourth Ashes Test at SCG. However, his brilliant comeback and century knocks went in vain as the hosts could not register a win in the match and had to settle with a draw. But, Usman Khawaja had made a mark with his knocks and even forced the Australia skipper Pat Cummins to accept the fact that ‘it won’t be easy for the team to drop him in the fifth and final Test of Ashes.”

Australia is set to tour Pakistan for a full-fledged international series in the month of March this year, to play 3 Tests and as many ODIs and a single T20 match against Pakistan. Pakistan born batsman Khawaja has expressed that the tour will definitely inspire aspiring cricketers in Pakistan. Speaking after the 4th Test, Khawaja accepted that he always gets great support in the subcontinent, Bangladesh, India, and particularly Pakistan.

“They were amazing even when I was there for the PSL. I would like to go back there and play. It is not that far away but it seems far. Even if I go there on tour, it will be amazing,” said Khawaja.

Khawaja also added that Australia can give back something to cricket by touring Pakistan and concluded by stating that the people in Pakistan have been deprived of cricket for a long time.

Smith, Warner and Khawaja are loved and admired in Pakistan: Kaneria

Speaking exclusively to SportsTiger, Danish Kaneria said that, “Indeed, Australia is a quality side and if they tour the subcontinent it will be a great opportunity for young cricketers in Pakistan to interact with Australian players. It will be a great learning opportunity for the cricket aspirants in India.”

Agreeing with Khawaja, Danish Kaneria told SportsTiger that, “The likes of Steve Smith, David Warner and Khawaja himself are very much loved and admired in Pakistan. If the PCB is able to successfully pull off the bilateral series it will be great for the nations.”

Congratulating Pakistan born player for his class apart performance in the fourth Ashes Test, former Pakistan leg-spinner said that, “Khawaja has shown potential and he should be consistent with the team. His presence will only add an edge to the team.”
