After three humiliating defeats and losing the series, England showed some grit to draw the fourth Test at SCG. However, their best batting performance is still awaited and Joe Root and Co. will hope to do that at Hobart. In the second pink-ball Test of the series, England will try to end the tour on a positive note and redeem themselves. The team news from England camp suggests as many as five changes. Haseeb Hameed is set to be dropped after a dismal performance while Buttler has been ruled out with an injury.
On the other hand, Pat Cummins-led Australia will just want to enjoy the game. Every player in the hosts’ camp has performed when required and the captain will expect the same at Hobart as well. The twin centurion from Sydney, Usman Khawaja will be opening alongside David Warner as Marcus Harris misses out while Scott Boland is doubtful with an injury.
England batters have not performed at all in the series. Skipper Joe Root has also failed to live up to the expectations. Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes scored for England in the last match but both are doubtful with injuries, it will be risky to keep them in the team. Zak Crawley can be a good pick considering his performance in the fourth Test. England bowlers have not been too impressive either. But if Ollie Robinson returns to the playing XI, he may prove to be a good option.
Meanwhile, from Australia’s camp, Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins are musts. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are also good options to go with. Travis Head is returning to the eleven and can fetch valuable points. Mitchell Starc is doubtful, thus leaving him out looks like a safe option. However, Scott Boland can earn a lot of points if he is included in the XI.
