A day after leading Australia Women to gold medal win at the Commonwealth Games 2022, skipper Meg Lanning has decided to take a indefinite break from competitive cricket. The 30-year-old has also pulled out of the second edition of the women's Hundred, starting from August 11.

"CA will continue to support Lanning, decision on her participation in the upcoming Australian domestic summer will be made in due course," read Cricket Australia's statement.

Lanning explained that she wanted to take a step back from her busy schedule so that she can spend time on herself and expressed her gratitude towards CA and her teammates. "I would urge media and everyone else to respect my privacy during this time," she added.
