Pakistan ended the fourth day four of the opening Test against Sri Lanka in a strong position as they are 120 runs away from their target in Galle. Opener Abdullah Shafique has been batting incredibly well as he scored a hard-fought 112 in 289 balls with five fours and one six. But in this knock, Shafique got a lot of support from the team’s captain Babar Azam who scored a 54 after playing a crucial 104 balls.

Both batters tackled the Sri Lankan bowlers who handed the Aussies an innings defeat. But unfortunately, Babar Azam fell early as Prabhath Jayasuriya’s delivery castled him. But the Pakistan captain still found a way to win hearts as he was seen cheering on his partner Abdullah Shafique when he reached his century. Azam was seen jumping in joy as Shafique took a single towards the on-side.

The Pakistan captain has been in incredible touch as he has scored 11 fifty-plus scores in his last 12 international innings. Similarly, his leadership qualities have also garnered a lot of praise. Pakistan cricketing legend Waqar Younis considered him among the best. He said, "Babar Azam in modern-day cricket looks a million dollars and he is definitely as good as all the big names.

“Babar is still very young and has plenty of cricket ahead of him and once he has retired you can perhaps sit down and start comparing him with others," Waqar said. "But all those greats have their own strengths and their own class and all of them played in different eras and we should not forget that," he added.
