RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell may have scored a 28 ball 39 on Friday but his knock importantly included as many as two sixes. These were the Australian star's first hit over the fence in nearly two complete years in the T20 tournament that has prompted his former franchise Punjab Kings (formerly known as the Kings XI Punjab) and his current team the Royal Challengers Bangalore to get involved in a hilarious social media exchange.

Maxwell scores over 1/3rd of his 2020 tally in debut innings for RCB

While Maxwell had scored 108 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2020 for the Punjab Kings without a single maximum, he scored 39 in his debut for RCB which is over 36 per cent of the total runs he scored last season. Particularly his first six got the teams talking. "First Maxi-mum in Red and Gold and he nearly hits it out of Chennai! Thank you @PunjabKingsIPL. We would hug you if not for social distancing," RCB wrote on Twitter. However, Punjab Kings was brilliant with its Twitter game and was quick to respond, ""Aww and thank you for Gayle, KL, Mandy, Sarfaraz, Mayank..."

Thanks to good innings from Maxwell, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, coupled with the brilliance of Harshal Patel with the ball (5/27), RCB got off to a winning start in IPL 2021. They defeated Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets in the augural match of the season and will face SRH next on April 14.
