Mahmud was set to be the Team Director for Bangladesh for the ODI series starting against Sri Lanka on Sunday but could not join the team after contracting the infection. In addition, Mahmud is also a coach in the Dhaka Premier League which is slated to begin on May 31.

Notably, Mahmud had reportedly returned two negative tests for Coronavirus after returning from Sri Lanka but tested positive recently. It is also being claimed by a board official that Bangladesh team began training on May 18 but Mahmud did not join them.
