With the NBA 2020-21 Playoffs just a gameday away, the basketball fanatics can’t seem to hold onto their elation. With only 1 place in the playoff, it is either the Golden State Warriors or the Memphis Grizzlies, who are going to frame the Top 16 of this season.
Having said that, let’s take a look at the key battles to watch out for in the first round of the 2020-21 NBA Playoffs-
1. Luka Doncic vs Kawhi Leonard (Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers)
The Dallas superstar has been soaring with confidence, especially since the latter stages of this season. Luka Doncic has been averaging 27.7 points per game. Whereas, Kawhi Leonard has supremely led the LA Clippers ever since he has returned from injury, having knocked more than 25 points per game on an average.
2. Nikola Jokic vs Damian Lillard (Denver Nuggets vs Portland Trail Blazers)
Nikola Jokic is the leading MVP Candidate for the 2020-21 NBA Season, while Damian Lillard is amongst the top scorers of the current season. While Jokic has had the help of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr during clutch times, Lillard has single headedly led Trail Blazers to the 6th position in the WC.
3. Chris Paul vs LeBron James (Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers)
LeBron James has already proclaimed LA Lakers’ dominant approach in retaining their Championship. Whereas, Chris Paul has showcased why has he been acquired by the Suns in 2021. Chris Paul has not only been among the Top 3 scorers for Phoenix but has guided the younger guns just like King James.
4. Joel Embiid vs Russell Westbrook (Philadelphia 76ers vs Washington Wizards)
Another MVP finalist, Joel Embiid’s battle with the greatest triple-double player Russell Westbrook is one of the key battles to look forward to in the 2020-21 NBA Playoffs. While the former player is one the greatest offensive centers, Westbrook is quite the opposite; he feeds on the energy of the tall defenders to score clutch points and also to provide key assists to his teammates.
5. Giannis Antetokounmpo vs Jimmy Butler (Milwaukee Bucks vs Miami Heat)
This is the recap of the 2020 NBA Playoffs as Jimmy Butler would once again be looking to inspire his troop to lead past the much favourite Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been averaging more than 28 points per game, with Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton in exceptional form.
On the other hand, Jimmy Butler has Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo to help Bucks bleed once more by attacking them in the paint. Will we see Bucks failing to impress in the playoffs once again? Or Giannis has had enough of NBA Playoff criticism? We will surely find out as the Playoffs begin on May 22, 2021.
