19th February came as a shock for India's wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha. After facing a Test snub, Saha was subjected to threatening messages from a 'respected' journalist. But the cricketer showed immense courage to come out in public and talk about both events. While he shared a screenshot of the messages he received from the scribe, Saha talked openly about how he was snubbed from the Test team.

All these revelations raised quite a few eyebrows and therefore the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) now wants to probe into the matter. As per a report, the Indian cricket board wants to delve deep into the matter and find out what exactly happened and how it transpired.

"The matter cannot be put to rest until every single detail of what Saha has said in the interview and the tweet he shared is looked into. Saha is a contracted cricketer of the BCCI. The onus is on the Board to not let its own player down. That aside, if there is any kind of a nexus at work here, one has to look into it," officials tracking these developments were quoted in a TOI report.

How is Ganguly assuring Saha a place in the team?

On Sunday, Saha, in an interview with different media houses, revealed that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had assured him that he will not lose his place in the team till he is there (at the helm). This claim from Ganguly also did not go too well as officials raise questions 'in what capacity did Ganguly give Saha any assurance on selection?'

"The Rahul Dravid-bit is understandable. He's the national coach and may have wanted to keep his players in the loop. That's between the coach and the players. What was the need for a BCCI official to speak with Saha and assure him of a place in the side? 'I don't need to worry till he's there'. Kitni galat baat hai yeh (How wrong it is to say something like this)," the officials were further quoted by TOI.

The officials also expressed shock at the messages Saha received from a journalist and understood that the board needs to act at the earliest. "First the Virat incident happened, then all this. And then he's (Saha) posted that tweet of the screenshot (of messages he received from a journalist). What the h*** is happening? The Board has to act because enough is enough," said the individuals involved.
