The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to organise an IPL owners' meeting next month to discuss Plan B for IPL 2022. The new Omicron variant is spreading rapidly in the country and this has prompted BCCI to ponder on an alternate plan. The IPL 2022 is set to be played in India but an increase in cases might change the scenario and the board is likely to discuss all the scenarios with the owners.

IPL 2022 is reportedly set to kick off on April 2 in Chennai, with the old home and away format coming back. However, if the situation gets worse due to the pandemic, BCCI need to be ready with alternative plans. Notably, BCCI had to postpone the last edition midway in May when the country was hit by the second wave of the pandemic. BCCI later had to shift the second half of the tournament to Dubai.
