While cricket continues to be the number one sport in India, Kabaddi is not too far behind in the race. The contact sport has rapidly benefitted from the emergence of several leagues and while COVID-19 did interrupt the growth of the sport, with the pandemic-related restrictions being lifted and the number of infections going down, Kabaddi has made a comeback and made a loud and clear announcement that it is here to stay.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Mr. Vedant Sharma, Head of Product at SportsTiger & Vice President at My Team 11, who was the Guest of Honour and attended match number 95 of the Yuva Kabaddi Series on June 20, Monday. The match saw Kaziranga Rhinos defeating Tadoba Tigers 45-31. At the post-match ceremony when Vedant was asked about the future of Kabaddi, he showed confidence in its ability to grow in the coming years.

"The future looks pretty bright seeing it's the second most-watched sport in India. It has been mostly loved by everyone and is doing well at all levels. Tournaments like Yuva Kabaddi League give a platform to youngsters while leagues like Pro Kabaddi have given the limelight to many other Kabaddi players," the head of SportsTiger- rated amongst the fastest sports app in India, said.

While he was quick to highlight that state associations have been coming forward seeing the rise in the interest for and popularity of the game, when quizzed if parents should give their children the liberty to play sports, he responded: "Parents should allow their children do whatever they want to because best things happen when children are allowed to pursue what they love. So let them do what they want to and don't enforce things upon."

Notably, SportsTiger is a product of the My Team 11 group and happens to be the digital media and streaming partner of the Yuva Kabaddi Series. The platform offers live updates, fast and interactive live scorecard, expert fantasy tips, in-depth game analysis and more.
