As the ongoing series between South Africa and India got set for the deciding contest in Cape Town on Tuesday, all eyes were on Virat Kohli who was playing his 99th Test match of his illustrious career. Team India captain was returning to side after missing the previous contest due to back spasm and fans were eagerly waiting to see the King bat. And it can be said that they were treated to a masterclass!

After India lost two quick wickets with score reading 33/2, Kohli’s batting came way earlier than he would have expected. However, an extremely different version of India’s No. 4 walked out to bat on Tuesday.

The right-handed batsman played beautifully as he showed immense grit, determination and resilience in difficult batting conditions. With all the other batters struggling in the middle, Kohli played some gorgeous shots while showing incredible patience to leave the balls outside the off stump.

Unfortunately, the 33-year-old was dismissed on 79 as he once again fell short of the much-awaited 71st century. And as expected, the fans were left heartbroken!

But despite the sadness, the netizens were quick to praise Kohli for playing one of the best Test innings seen in recent times. When everyone was struggling, India’s captain looked flawless and rightly so, people hailed his knock as a genuine masterclass. Some of the fans even went on to claim that a knock like that meant greater than a century.

One of the users summed up the knock perfectly as he claimed that the fantastic knock deserved a better ending and a century would have probably done justice! But most of the people admitted that the victory matters more than any ton as they send their wishes to Kohli to go out and lead his side to a historic series win.

Although King might have failed to touch the three-digit mark, this 79-run knock will surely go down in history as one of the best innings played in Cape Town. Thanks to his genius, India put up a competitive total of 223 on board.
