Big news has come in from the ongoing French Open, it is being learned that Russian player Yana Sizikova has been arrested reportedly on suspicion of match-fixing. The 26-year-old was apparently arrested on Thursday evening following her first-round doubles match with her partner Ekaterina Alexandrova. They were up against Ajla Tomljanovic and Storm Sanders but produced an underwhelming performance as they lost 1-6, 1-6.

As per a report carried by French Media, Sizikova was taken into custody in the premises of the Central Service for Races and Games of the judicial police following her arrest. It is also being learned that security guards initially tried to prevent the arrest as Sizikova was coming out of her massage session following her match.

Meanwhile, investigators are perhaps on regarding the first-round match she played last year, in which it is alleged that thousands of euros were waged with several betting operators on doubles match against Romanian opponents Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria. The suspicion is specifically relating to the fifth game of the second set in which she had committed two double faults, even messing up a point.

Notably, Sizikova is ranked 101st in the world on the doubles circuit, while her singles ranking happens to be 765. The ongoing French Open began on Sunday and runs till June 13. Tomljanovic and Sanders, who defeated Sizikova and Alexandrova this year in the first round, will now play Elena Rybakina and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the second round of the women's doubles.
