In a shocking revelation from world of cricket, former Zimbabwe skipper Brendan Taylor has opened up on a huge match-fixing scandal. Through a post on social media, the 35-year-old revealed the entire story about how he was trapped by an Indian businessman in 2019, his engagement in cocaine and the fear following which his life was not the same anymore.

He went on to reveal that he was never a part of match-fixing and was true to the game forever. However, his inability to report the same to ICC on time meant that the authority would ban him for couple of years from all forms of cricket.

Brendan Taylor – A legend for Zimbabwe!

The cricketer will undoubtedly go down in history of Zimbabwe Cricket as one of the bests to have graced the game. Brendan Taylor represented his national side 34 Test, 205 ODIs and 45 T20Is where he scored more than 9,000 international runs including 17 hundreds and 51 half-centuries.

He announced his retirement from international cricket in September 2021, ahead of Zimbabwe’s 3rd ODI against Ireland. While the decision at that time came as a surprise for fans who believed that he still had it in him to play a couple of years at the top level.

However, following his huge revelation, it becomes clear that he was going through quite a lot and it would have not been easy for him to continue playing with so much mental pressure.

What next for Brendan Taylor?

The 35-year-old has already revealed that ICC is set to ban him for couple of years which means that he might not be seen in any cricket-related activities in the coming future. Brendan Taylor also stated that he is checking into a rehabilitation centre on January 25 (Tuesday) in order to get his life back on track.

Fans would want Taylor to come back stronger from this traumatic phase that he had been going throw in last couple of years. And if things turn out well, the legendary wicketkeeper batsman might return in some capacity in future to serve the game he loves.
