The former world champion boxer Amir Khan has recently tweeted about being robbed at gunpoint in East London, Leyton with his wife Faryal Makhdoom. Fortunately, both Khan and his wife are safe. The 35-year-old wrote how two men to rushed him and pointed a gun while asking him to take off his watch as he crossed the road with his wife.

The 35-year-old tweet said,  "Just had my watch taken off me at gunpoint in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal (Khan's wife), luckily she was a few steps behind me. 2 men ran to me, and he asked for my watch whilst having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we're both safe."

Amir Khan had last fought against Kell Brook in February where he suffered a crushing defeat in just six rounds. After the match, the 2004 Olympic Bronze medalist hinted at hanging his boots and retiring from the sport. He said, “40 fights is a lot of fights - winning two world titles, fighting up and down America and around the world.

“I need to sit down with my family, but I think it is more towards the end of my career now, that my love for the sport is not there anymore like it was before. I used to have that excitement and that push. I just didn’t have it in me I felt quite flat - I think that’s maybe a sign for me to know that I should be calling it a day, but let’s see.

“I just couldn’t get it going - No disrespect to Kell Brook, he put a great performance on, did everything he needed to. He was the best man tonight. I had a great, great training camp, but I just couldn’t get going. I was missing quite a lot. Kell was on his A-game, all respect goes out to him, he added.”

But towards the end of March, boxing promoter Ben Shalom revealed that Khan will not retire and could return to the ring in the near future. He said, “Amir I think will fight. He will fight again, he wants to fight again. I think he has understood why it might be a tough sell to go straight back into a Kell Brook fight. I believe him that he was injured [against Brook]. I do believe that there were some issues with the camp and he only had 10 weeks.”

"It's for him to prove he's not finished, it's for him to prove it's not just about the money, and therefore I think another fight to show that might be more appropriate before he takes on someone like Kell Brook."
