Preview:

It’s a chance to create history for both Manchester City and Chelsea at the Champions League this Saturday night as both the teams fight it out in the summit clash. The teams were pretty impressive in their Premier League campaigns this season but it has been Pep Guardiola’s City who clinched their third title in four years and would now try to bag another trophy, also having won the the Carabao Cup in what has been a fulfilling campaign. On the other hand, it’s been a great comeback for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. Not only have they managed a top four finish but have even pulled off wins against top sides but a win here would suggest the Blues have well and truly arrived.

Team News:

Manchester City:

Pep Guardiola has had a great run this season and has opted to play without a specialised striker. He is likely to go ahead with a similar tactic against Chelsea. There are no injury or availability concerns as far as the Cityzens are concerned and they would look to field their strongest side in this match.

Chelsea:

For the Blues, Edouard Mendy was substituted against Aston Villa but is expected to be back in the team. Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante’s fitness has been a matter of concern for them but he could be part of the starting XI for this all-important clash.

Analysis:

There is little doubt that Manchester City have one of the best squads in the world as of now and they have played to their reputation this season. However, Guardiola has had a few problems while taking on Chelsea earlier and will need to work on those issues before this game. As far as the Chelsea are concerned, they have been a bit inconsistent in the past month and will hardly get a chance to come back if they make a mistake against a top side like City. Given their form this season, City are the pre-match favourites although it might not be termed an upset if Chelsea go on to write history.
