Shooter Avani Lekhara won gold at the Para Shooting World Cup with a world record score of 250.6 in women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 on Tuesday. With the gold at World Cup, the Tokyo Olympics champion secured her spot at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Notably, the 20-year-old broke her own world record of 249.6.

The winning moment of Avani Lekhara has now gone viral. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot were among the prominent figures who congratulated the youngster.

Post the win, Avani Lekhara took to Twitter and thanked Prime Minister Modi and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur for their support.

"Proud to bring home the gold in the R2 10M Air Rifle SH1 event with a WR score & India's 1st Paris2024 Quota, at the Chateauroux 2022. My 1st Int. event since the @paralympics. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me!" Avani Lekhara tweeted.

Notably, 3 days prior to the event, Avani Lekhara’s coach and escort were denied visas. However, the issue was resolved after intervention of the Sports Authority of India.
