Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde has been a subject of interest for both La Liga giants Barcelona and Premier League club Chelsea, with the English side offering a £55 million bid for the French international's transfer, as per reports.

Jules Kounde's transfer to Thomas Tuchel's side is just a matter of time as the English club have submitted a new bid of £55 million to beat the Catalan giants for the French centre-back's signing.

Kounde will be the third signing for Chelsea this summer after the signings of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Serie A side Napoli. Chelsea are closing in to sign Kounde for a five-year contract at the Stamford Bridge.

After the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers, the Blues are looking to sign a couple of defensive players. By signing Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea are left with only one defensive position to be filled with Kounde being the major possibility.

"I have a figure. I think we need a couple more players to improve the squad," Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said earlier this week.

Chelsea have also shown their interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, and Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig.
