The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team has suffered defeats in the first 2 league matches of the Indian Premier League 2022. This is the first occasion in the tournament’s history when the franchise has not been able to secure a victory in the first 2 fixtures of the season.

In the IPL 2022 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they lost by failing to defend 131 and then followed it up with another failure to safeguard 210 against Lucknow Super Giants in the second league game.

One of the key players of the CSK team, Deepak Chahar has been absent in the IPL 2022 due to the injury he sustained during the T20I series against West Indies. His performances in the last few editions of IPL and recent stint for the Indian team earned him a contract of 14 crores from the CSK team in the 2022 mega auction.

Chahar is still recovering from the quadriceps tear, which puts a heavy load on the leg and partially bents the knees as well. As reported by Times Now, he will be released from the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore in two weeks and is expected to mark his presence in the IPL 2022 by 25 April.

Over the years, Chahar has been a useful player for the CSK team in getting wickets with the new ball. He has displayed his ability to be ever consistent in putting pressure on the opposition with his line lengths and has improved his performances with the bat as well. Recently, he posted an update and informed the fans about his recovery process, and was seen bowling in the nets of the NCA facility.  In the last edition, he scalped 14 wickets in 15 appearances.

The present CSK team does not have a potent bowling attack and lacks experience in the pace department. Along with Deepak Chahar, Adam Milne, and Chris Jordan are unavailable for the team. The Kiwi pacer Milne injured himself during the fixture against KKR, and Jordan was admitted to a hospital due to a tonsil infection. Both the players are said to be returning match-fit after 1-2 matches.
