Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is a dream come true story at the IPL Players' Auction. Despite an average performance in IPL 2020 where he failed to clear the fence even once, Maxwell was bought for a whopping sum of INR 14.25 crores by the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the 2021 IPL Auction.

His last three years' IPL deal alone is worth a massive INR 34 crores and despite not being able to have a breakthrough season after the 2014 edition, Maxwell has somehow managed to earn massive deals.

David Warner dons commentator's hat

During the first of the five T20Is between New Zealand and Australia, Aussie opener David Warner got a chance to voice his opinion in the commentary box. When Glenn Maxwell came in to bowl, Warner decided to bring in the topic of IPL auction and did not miss out from taking a cheesy dig at his deal.

“Not a bad result in the IPL auction for the ‘Big Show’ either,” Warner said on air. In response, Mark Waugh, who was with Warner on broadcast, quickly chipped in with his one liner. “Considering his last IPL season,” Waugh said.

However, Warner also showed faith in Maxwell's capabilities and backed him to come good in this year's IPL.

“It’s surprising, you get let go from your franchise and you get a lot more after being released. We know what he’s capable of, and I’m sure there’s a bit of expectation but I’m sure he’ll deliver,” concluded Warner.
