Indian wrestler Anshu Malik lost in the summit clash to settle for a silver medal in the Women's Freestyle 57 kg wrestling. While she had defeated Sri Lanka's Nethmi Poruthotage 10-0 to reach the gold medal match, she could not repeat her heroics in the summit clash. She lost the summit clash to the Nigerian Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroye 3-7.

Not only did Adekuoroye get the first points in this match but she never looked back from there once she got a two-point lead. The Nigerian, who was also the defending champion, went into the break with a four-point and although the Indian wrestler did manage to add a few points, it was not enough to win the gold medal. In the end India even challenged a move but it seemed like a desperate measure than anything else.
