The Commonwealth Games 2022 is scheduled to be held in Birmingham, England from July 28 to August 8, 2022. For the first time, the quadrennial games will witness more women's events than men's events.
A total of 72 countries and territories will be taking part in the multi-sport event. The CWG 2022 will not feature the events like shooting and archery instead Women's T20 cricket, Basketball 3x3, wheelchair Basketball 3x3, and para Table Tennis are included in Birmingham 2022. Notably, the CWG 2022 schedule has already been announced.
After men's 50-over cricket tournament in the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Games, this will be the first time when cricket will be played at the CWG 2022. The eight women's team to qualify for the event are India, Australia, Pakistan, Barbados, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
The regular version of basketball was played in the Melbourne Games 2006 and in the Gold Coast 2008. This is the first time 3x3 basketball tournament will be played in the event. Also, the CWG federation has included the para version of basketball, wheelchair basketball in CWG 2022, while para Table Tennis is also added in the Birmingham Games 2022.
