After days of speculation and preparation, the D-day came for all franchises on 12 February when the IPL 2022 Mega Auction took place. Every team came up with the best strategy to pick the best players. Delhi Capitals also had a strategy on their mind to which they stuck most of the time, but they felt the purse constraint. They came with the least purse amount of 47.5 crores

But still, the DC management managed to get hold of players they had on their minds. The management looked happy with what they managed with so much constraint. DC went after their ex-players like R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Shimron Hetmyer, and Shreyas Iyer for a while but decided not to lose too much early in the day. However, they managed to get David Warner for 6.25 Crores.

DC made some great purchases post the lunch break as they got some good players at reasonable prices. Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh were the steal of the day for DC after Warner. Continuing their fine run at the mega auction, DC made some more good purchases on Day 2. They bagged two left-arm seamers along with a skilled batter for just 10.15 Crores.
